This Is How Long The YETI Rambler 20 oz. Tumbler Keeps Coffee Warm

A long while back got a Yeti Rambler 20 oz. Tumbler as a birthday gift. I was excited because I had already been impressed with the YETI Rambler 14 oz. Mug, but I was bummed because it doesn’t work very well to take on the road. The mug is too big for the cup holders in my car, so I never took it with me.

The 20 oz. The Tumbler is the perfect to-go size and is even advertised on the packaging to fit into any cup holder in your car or boat.

I noticed that the Tumbler was doing a great job throughout the day, so I experimented to see how long the YETI Tumbler could keep my coffee warm.

Setting up the Experiment

Around 8:30 in the morning, I brewed a cup of coffee on my Ninja Coffee Bar right into the Tumbler. Roughly every half hour, I checked the temperature using an instant-read thermometer called the ThermoPop by ThermoWorks.

Check out the full video of the experiment here:

The Results

  • 8:35 a.m.: 178° F (this was immediately after brewing)
  • 9:38 a.m.: 159° F
  • 10:19 a.m.: 151° F
  • 10:50 a.m.: 145° F
  • 11:21 a.m.: 140° F
  • 12:07 p.m.: 134° F
  • 12:38 p.m.: 130° F
  • 1:07 p.m.: 126° F
  • 1:41 p.m.: 124° F (this was after leaving the cap open for the past half hour)

After 5 hours, the coffee had lost 54° F from the brew temperature. If you haven’t had your coffee 5 hours after brewing, you’ll probably never drink it. At 124° F, it was still coffee I would drink. I’m super impressed with this product!

This is especially great if you are going on a road trip or have a long commute to work. You can also get a slightly larger version of the Rambler that holds 30 oz. but has a smaller bottom, so it will still fit into any cup holder.

The Yeti Rambler is a great option for a to-go mug! It keeps it warm for an extended period and is super durable. If you are shopping around for one of these, I recommend looking at The Carter Everywhere Mug, which I wrote about here.
