A long, long while back, my wife bought me a key organizer, and ever since, I haven’t been able to survive without one! I’ve used KeySmart, Keyport, Ekster, and more over the years, and I was excited when I finally got a chance to test out Orbitkey after they agreed to gift one to me to check out and share with you guys, and I’m glad they did, because it has become my favorite one yet!
In this article, I’m going to to tell you exactly what this key organizer is, what I like about it, what I don’t like about it, and who this key organizer is for. So stay tuned for that!

What is the Orbit Key Crazy-Horse Key Organizer?

- Fantastic quality leather
- Easy to install or remove keys and tools
- Soft sided key organizers are awesome
- The metal wears well
- I wish it was a bit longer
- No pocket clip
There are plenty of different form factors out there for key organizers (as you can see here), and this one has taken the simplistic route! This key organizer essentially utilizes a screw and nut (which can be disassembled by using a quarter, or penny) to keep your keys (2 to 7 of them) from jumbling around in your pocket; it then wraps those keys in full-grain leather so that the now organized keys don’t damage other things in your pockets.
The organizer also includes a loop at the end of the leather strap to attach key rings, for organizing and keeping track of car fobs. It’s an incredibly simple yet effective way to organize your keys. (Paid Link)
What do I like about this key organizer?
1. Fantastic quality leather
I have had a lot of experience with different key organizers, and one of my favorites in the past was the Ekster Key Case! This was the first time I had owned a soft-sided key organizer, and I found it to be much more comfortable in my pocket. However, the moment I got this Orbitkey out of its packaging, I knew it was different.
This may have a similar soft-sided leather form factor, but the top-grain leather is in a whole different league. The leather has patina’d extremely well, it is much softer to the touch than other organizers, and is overall extremely impressive in a time where brands are trying to cut costs.
2. Easy to install or remove keys and tools
I’ve used plenty of different key organizers over the years, and the ones that stand out are these single sided key organizers. While the double sided key organizers offer a lot larger capacity, the single sided ones give you an easy process for installing, or removing keys and tools.
Rather than having to line all of your keys up perfectly on both sides and get both of the screws to tighten down perfectly (along with getting them to be the same height on two posts), you only have to do it on one side.
No joke, the difference is night and day! Rather than a ten-minute process filled with frustration, it’s a thirty-second process that can be done with a quarter (to screw it down).
3. Soft sided key organizers are awesome
While soft sided key organizers don’t allow for additional accessories to be added to the exterior of the organizer (like this one right here), they are much more comfortable in the pocket. You don’t feel this Orbitkey organizer at all throughout the day due to its soft sided leather. Its able to flex, move around with you, and of course keep the keys from jabbing into your side.
4. The metal wears well
One of the biggest issues with adding painted metal elements to a key organizer (or daily carry stuff in general) is that it tends to wear in a less than nice way. However, after using this one here (Paid Link) for a couple months now, I have to say, of any metal product I’ve used like this, it actually looks better worn out.
It kinda has a patina look to it rather than a shiny metal showing through the paint. I don’t mind its worn look (unlike this wallet here). I think a bit part of this, of course, is that there are only certain components that are metal on this organizer, and not the whole thing, so bravo to you, Orbitkey.
What do I not like about this Orbit Key?
1. I wish it was a bit longer
I’ve had quite a few key organizers over the years, which means I also have accumulated quite a few different accessories that would fit just awesome on this key organizer. However, due to its enclosed length, things like certain multi-tools unfortunately won’t move into the enclosure, as it isn’t quite long enough. Because of that, I wish it was just a bit longer to accommodate more accessories than just what OrbitKey offers.
2. No pocket clip
Key organizers are a truly awesome accessory for keeping your keys in one place; however, if you don’t have a pocket clip, they have a tendency to get lost in the bottom of your pocket and can be a paint to find around your key fob and wallet (don’t have one of these? Read through this article here).
Because of that issue, companies like Ridge, with their key organizer and Keyport, offer pocket clips that allow the organizer to sit higher up in the pocket and make it easier to find.
Who should by this organizer?
If you need to keep your keys from jangling around, along with wanting a usable multi-tool, this Orbitkey stands out as my all-time favorite key organizer so far! It’s soft one-sided construction makes it a simple task to install your keys, and the leather is of the best quality I’ve seen on a key organizer yet. You can’t go wrong with this one!
Now, if you are someone who couldn’t care less about what your keys are doing in your pocket, you probably could steer clear of this, as you likely won’t see the benefit. But you should anyways.
Where should you buy it?
