The Sablute Gaming Keyboard & Mouse Were BETTER Than Expected

For the longest time, and for most people, keyboards were just the must-have side accessory that came with the computer you purchased, and not much concern was given to them. That has changed tremendously in the past decade.

Keyboard users are picky with much broader expectations, and much more specific user needs are required. Whether you’re using a keyboard for production, gaming, or just a standby at home, I’ve used fairly premium keyboards and some of the cheapest that they make.

While I’m not a picky user by any means, I have learned to appreciate what a high-quality keyboard and mouse setup can bring. For the past two weeks, I’ve been testing the Sablute gaming keyboard and mouse (Paid Link). I was gifted this by Sablute, but I’m going to give my honest review, so by the end, you are going to know what my experience was, what I liked, what I did not, like, who I think it’s for, and who I think it’s not for but to begin let’s start with what it actually is.

This is a wired gaming keyboard with a matching mouse, and it connects via USB-C. It is a 94-key layout, so smaller than a full-size 104-key keyboard, but still with a numeric keypad. The keyboard features and RGB backlight with special audio sync function, so the lights react to endgame sounds music or voice chat in real time.

While it does not have mechanical switches, it boasts a mechanical like feel with a quiet membrane to give responsive typing and keep press feel while keeping noise lower than a mechanical keyboard it does have I hit control knob to adjust RGB brightness or volume comes with anti-ghosting 19 key to ensure fast key presses are registered accurately and it has a compact space saving design with the 94 key layout, making it a bit more desk, friendly.

What do I like about this low-priced gaming keyboard?

1. It’s incredibly budget-friendly.

Currently sitting at around $30 (Paid Link) . This is an absolutely budget-friendly keyboard. Honestly, at this price, a “gaming“ keyboard with RGB in a three-piece set seems too good to be true. I really expected this to fall apart in the first week. To my surprise, I’ve actually quite enjoyed using this setup. While it definitely has a lower quality feel in the overall materials used, especially when it comes to the mouse. The setup feels quite nice.

2. The double-shot key caps worked well.

All right, I know this is a small thing, but I think it is a more premium feature. I really don’t know what it costs to make double-shot key caps, but as far as I can tell, that’s what this is, and it’s quite nice. Being able to change the RGB to colors to make the key caps stand out a bit more is super helpful in low light and looks amazing! The key caps feel really good, and they are comfortable while typing. It’s not one of the keyboards you kind of lose track of where you are by feel because every key feels the same. It’s a very ergonomic and comfortable typing experience.

3. The quiet typing experience was fantastic.

There is nothing like an annoying-sounding keyboard in an office or at home. The ticking and clicking that some keyboard gives is quite annoying, and often you don’t realize how annoyed you are until after it stops. While more premium keyboards carry a much more enjoyable sound. This one holds up quite well. If you want to be silent, you can be, but you do have to type a bit slower; overall, not a bad typing experience.

4. The Mouse and its ergonomic grip surprised me.

Honestly, this is where I thought I would dislike this product the most, and while the mouse does feel cheap as far as the plastics that are used, and it’s lightweight, it does have a nice ergonomic feel. It’s not too small and not too big. I personally cannot stand tiny profiles on a mouse, and this one feels very good. I’m not sure how it’s gonna hold up over time, but so far, so good.

What wasn’t great about this keyboard and mouse combo?

1. The ABS plastic keycaps were meh

Let me start this off by saying I completely understand why it is that the plastic is ABS for these key caps, and some people don’t mind that. Personally, I like PBT plastics that don’t get shiny over time, and ABS plastics feel a bit less premium, but at his price point, I understand why that is.

2. The Clicky switches were lacking

While using the keyboard, I do notice a lot of movement on the key caps themselves. There tends to be a wobble on the key. While nothing has broken or come apart, it does give a cheaper feel to the keyboard and makes it slightly louder unless I am intentional about pressing each key. However, and this is what I keep coming back to… the price is so low for what you get.

Whose keyboard and mouse is this for?

The budget-friendly crowd (Paid Link). If you are looking for a bottom-dollar gaming setup that gives very nice features, such as RGB presets in both the keyboard, mouse,  and wrist rest, then this really will be a good place to start.

For sure, it would not be a final go-to setup, but to get you started, this is a great option. I like that even if I get a year’s worth of use out of the setup, it’s still a great value. One thing not to miss is the double-shot key caps, and the ergonomic key layout is a game-changer if you’ve never experienced it. Give this one a try, and you’ll be very happy with the features you’ll receive compared to the price paid.

Who is this not for?

Those who want customization. A lot of keyboards and gaming software give you the ability to preset certain keys, RGB programming, and responsiveness, whereas that is unavailable for this setup. There are preset light settings, but it is limited, and the lights are not north or south facing, but rather a flat light underneath all the keys, not a big deal for most, but if you’re used to a north or south-facing RGB light, you will miss the brightness that you get with those.
