I have used a variety of wallets in my time. From the Minimalist wallet to thick chunky wallets and everything in between. However, I’ve never quite used one like this Fantom M Extra-Slim wallet. It’s one of the most compact, and usable wallets I’ve ever tried out, so I was thankful when Fantom was willing to gift me this wallet to check out. I am excited to discuss this, so let’s dive right in!

This specific wallet has an awesome carbon fiber finish; however, other color options include Bamboo and Walnut. Mine was also sent with the optional money clip and MagSafe sticker accessory (for those of us without an iPhone, unlike Austin over here).

Other accessory options include an Airtag holder, an iPhone case, and a rechargeable tracking card (only compatible with iPhone). All Fantom products are made in-house in Canada and include a lifetime warranty. The Fantom M offers RFID to protect and keep your card information safe and secure giving peace of mind to the user.

The thing that sets Fantom M apart (Paid Link) from the competition really comes down to its card ejection mechanism! You pull back on the lever, and up to seven cards (in the case of this extra-slim wallet) are fanned out horizontally (rather than vertically like most other competitors).

It also doubles as a standard minimalist wallet, but also offers MagSafe tech, so you can put it onto the back of any compatible phone (which I can do, thanks to the MagSafe sticker mentioned earlier).

What do I like about this minimalist wallet?

1. Ease of access to my cards

I enjoy the ease of access to cards with the Fantom M. This wallet will hold up to 7 Cards easily (which few other minimalist cardholders do). Pulling the lever on the side will bring all of the cards out in a fanning motion, making it easy to select which card you want to grab.

This makes paying in line at the grocery store or your favorite coffee stand a breeze. With most wallets, I have struggled when trying to access my ID at crucial times, feeling rushed or just feeling a bit judged for taking too long; that isn’t the case with the Fantom M. This has by far been the best feature of this wallet to me.

2. It’s extremely compact and slim.

Another feature of this wallet that I greatly enjoy is how slim it is. I have owned many smaller wallets that try to mimic this and have failed. Fantom has nailed down this slim wallet while also keeping this product rich with features.

Whether you like to keep this wallet in your back pocket or front, I barely notice it is there.

I recently went on a road trip for 2 days with 8 hours of driving each. With a conventional wallet, I would have had to take it out of my pocket as it was too uncomfortable to sit on. With the Fantom M (Paid Link), I rarely noticed it (except for the money clip, which we will cover later).

3. So many different options

One of the best features of this wallet is how many features and options it has. One of which being the MagSafe compatibility. Having the option of attaching your wallet to the back of your phone on the go is very convenient adding ease of use and accessibility.

Myself having an android device made no difference as I was provided with the MagSafe sticker for just that situation. Adding and removing the wallet for charging purposes is very straight forward. Having the wallet attached to the back of your phone does add a bit of real estate; fortunately, with how slim the wallet is, it isn’t a deal breaker for me.

What do I NOT like about the Fantom M?

Now for the bad….Fortunately, I don’t have a lot to say here.

1. The optional money clip isn’t the best.

The biggest negative with the Fantom M that I have found was the optional money clip (which our founder isn’t a big fan of either in other wallets). If the wallet was oriented incorrectly it quickly became uncomfortable. That being said I believe any wallet would have the same issue as the money clip is made of metal.

I would maybe prefer an elastic band option for holding cash or misc items. This only affects those of us who prefer our back pockets for holding our wallets.

2. Lack of Android Phone Support

The only other negative I have found with this wallet is the lack of options for Android accessories. I own an Android device myself and cannot take advantage of the tracking card that Fantom offers (which is my favorite offering!).

They do however try to mitigate with options for other phone brands. Such as the MagSafe sticker which I was provided with. This enabled me to have my wallet attached to the back of my phone, which is convenient!

Who should buy this wallet?

This Wallet is definitely for the minimalist who wants something small and compact while also having a slough of options! You will have your friends asking about it when you have it out in front of them. I believe this product is one of the best wallets I have owned (Paid Link). This wallet is for the on-the-go person who prizes their time and efficiency.

I do not believe this wallet is for the person who carries a lot around with them. Cash carriers would not be impressed with this wallet. Holding only 7 cards including your ID could be restrictive for some. All said and done, I love this product and would recommend it!
