What is the Exped Mega Sleep Uno?

- The Two-Sided Heat Rating
- The size is almost perfect
- Quality build
- The Storage Bag is lacking
- Two ended draw cord isn't great
The Exped mega sleep Uno is a rectangular sleeping bag that’s rated to 25° on the one side and 40° on the other side with a length of 82 inches and a width of 67 inches. This bag is roomy and comfortable while maintaining warmth featuring recycled 40 D ripstop polyester outer and a texpedloft fill. A draft tube along the zipper and draw cords around the head end reduces heat loss. The mega sleep Uno is a sure winner for your camping adventure.
What do I like about this sleeping bag?

1. Two-Sided Heat Rating
I really like the two-side heat rating. One side is rated for 40°F, and the other side is rated for 25°F. This feature makes this bag extremely versatile for warm weather camping as well as those chillier nights that I experienced when I tested this sleeping bag. The temperature got below 10° and I still felt fairly warm, even way below the rating.
It’s not often you find a sleeping bag that offers a feature like this, and extends the usability of the sleeping bag to being great for cooler or warmer temperatures (saving you money).
2. The Size is awesome
Initially, I thought the bag was too large, but after sleeping in it, the size is nearly perfect. There’s just enough room to not feel trapped like some mummy-style bags, while not having too much space, so it’s truly possible to keep warm while still having room to move around. The size perfectly fit the Exped sleeping mat that I was using.
3. The build quality is impressive
The quality of this bag is super well done, I have used many similar bags like this, but this bag is made well and it seems no time or money was saved in the manufacturing process. Small details make the difference here such as labeling the temp rating on both sides and in both formats. They didn’t need to add this but they did. And that is why I feel that Exped quality is super high.
What do I NOT like about the Mega Sleep Uno?

1. The Storage Bag isn’t perfect
The bag that you store it in has no compression straps on it. You don’t want to store your bag all balled up and packed tightly as that will reduce the insulation value over time. You need an option to compress the bag for putting it in your backpack or your car. Just adding this small piece would make a huge difference.
2. Two ended draw cord
The Exped Mega Sleep Uno has (Paid Link) a single draw sting around the top of the bag, it works but it comes with some down sides. One being that to get a good seal around your neck and head you need to draw it down a long ways, due to the bag’s traditional rectangular shape. A two ended cord will more easily get the bag drawn around you without a super long string getting caught on stuff. Also, if you store the draw string in your bag as you sleep, then you have a long loop of string that hands and arms can get caught up in. If this bag had a two sided draw cord it would be a #1 pick for me as a spring fall sleeping bag.
Who should buy this sleeping bag?

The Exped Megasleep Uno is a great all- around sleeping bag (Paid Link). This bag is roomy and warm but has some quirks. If you are someone who is looking for a sleeping bag that is good for warm and cooler weather then this is definitely the bag for you. It doesn’t matter if you are car camping in Moab or packing in on a long trek in the Wind River range, the Megasleep Uno will be a great and versatile addition to your camping gear.
